I think I've seen enough performances of Shakespeare to have formed an opinion :) And I've seen more than I've read. Mostly tragedies, which may be the problem, as I've no sympathy for awful things happening to people who have brought it upon themselves. 'Much Ado about Nothing' is the only Shakespearean play I've seen and properly enjoyed. (Also Julie Taymor's 'Titus', because that is less 'hero with a fatal flaw' and more 'here's your kid in a pie'.) But it's the tragedies that get performed the most.

I think you need to go back and not just read the plays but go and watch them as well. Shakespeare is not for everyone, granted, but there must be a reason why you don't like his work rather than because everyone said you should. As for Winter's tale it is about jealousy and mistrust, yes there are elements to it which are fantastical but that is where you suspend your disbelief. Next time try and approach Shakespeare with an open mind rather than having shot him down before he gets a chance to impress

The glow worms! Glow worms in the real world are my favourite bug ever - going to the glow cave at Te Anau was one of my favourite holidays ever - so having them here, a pointless but lovely piece of decoration? Eee!

I totally approve of Dragon Age squee! And people not dying! I was surprised how touched I was by my brother defending me against Meredith. Siblings ♥ Did you get the sidequest with Gamlen in Act 3? That was some warm fuzzies. I really liked how important family was in the game.

Ha, Fenris left me both times and I completely failed to convince him to come back in either. But that's a choice I can respect. One day, Fenris! You will be my best bro forever one day.

Yay for no misery! I blame Merrill for mine. Her whole plot caused me so much distress in my first playthrough, so I was mean to her the second time. It's like kicking puppies, but on the other hand, no wiping out your girlfriend's entire clan! That, and just going along with Anders' revolution, gave my second playthrough a way happier ending.

Being viscount sounds way badass. Varric will always love you :D

There have been a couple of times I've started replaying DA:O, but I get through the origin story and am like ... I have to go out in the Wilds and get lost again? So I don't get very far. Whereas DA2 cuts the running and presents you with lots of options far sooner; it seems way more approachable.

The little arrow that points you where to go is just my favourite thing, and really, even makes sense to have considering how well your character must know the city. I agree that the familiarity you get is really effective, and affecting. With the characters too. And the getting broken D:

The one thing I liked about the caves was that you could go around those little corners and look at glow-worms. I had to go goggle at them every single time.

I ... do not think I will play DA:O again, unless I get a massive flu someday and my brain can stand all that bloody running around before you get anywhere and then more running oh god can I not just teleport right to the gates of Orzammar already? Whereas DA2 is so much more full of ... things? You repeat the same places but they change, by more or less, and you become familiar with them, which works perfectly because then you cry more when they get broken.

Though I could have done without every cave system looking exaaaactly the same and the designers not even bothering to white out the bits of the default map they weren't using in this clone of it, heh.

OMG DA2, MY HEART. I managed not to kill anyone, even after spending most of the game thinking how annoying ALL the fellas were! My bro came back to me! Anders ... ok, massive dick and also whingey as hell, but now totally friends forever! Fenris sided with the Templars AND THEN CAME BACK TO ME even though he didn't like me very much and I actually got warm fuzzies, aww. Awwww.

Next time I might try to make everyone hate me and then become viscount, but I don't think I can tough it out D:

(sorry for screaming all over your post)

Whee!

I was so worried it would be miserable and do not even know how I managed to escape that. I expect it is because my Hawke was a massive flip-flopper.
